Adorée Johnson

Adorée is a uniquely gifted wide range performer with a commanding stage presence, this prodigiously talented girl originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma received her Bachelors of Science in Sociology and Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Despite not knowing what she will do with these two degrees, Adorée definitely knew she had a love for African culture, travel and wanted to perform in music and dance somehow someway. With her background in music and also musical theatre, Adorée decided to further her career and try out for the hit TV Show American Idol 2004 where she landed in Hollywood and her but on television and provided her with many opportunities as a result. In 2005, Adorée moved to Washington, DC earning her MFA in Jazz Performance all the while dancing salsa, kizomba/semba. Adorée also trained in West African traditional dance and where she has performed in such groups, NOMMO West African Traditional Dance Group, NSAA West African Traditional Dance Team. Adorée also performed in her own band while in DC which prepared her for her debut musical performance in Europe which later developed into opportunities to perform professionally in African dances such as Kizomba, Semba, Afro, and Afro Kuduro all around Europe. Adorée has developed into a full-fledged, world-class performer and shows herself ripe for discovery as a great international woman of performance. With her Traditional African dance roots and her Master’s degree of Jazz she decided use her knowledge of dancing and music/singing to not only perform but teach musicality in this world of African dances in Europe scene. Adorée has a passion for people to better understand the culture of Africa and its music. In January 2013 Adorée took a risk and moved to London to perform which opened many doors for her. Adorée currently residing in Prague, Czech Republic, has performed and taught in over 23 countries across Europe, as well as across Africa, Asia and North/South America and currently singing, performing and teaching not only in Kizomba but also Semba, Musicality, Dance Floor Sensuality 101, Afro, Afro Kuduro in Heels, and West African Traditional dances just to name a few. Adorée believes every opportunity she is given to teach, perform the African and African Diaspora Dances, is a great and fun way to learn more about yourself, how to be grounded and of course more about African culture as a whole. Adorée believe that by using all your senses it is an amazing way to connect each of us in one way or another to the dance, music, the heartbeat of Africa.
